Dance lessons in Merstham
Reigate Dance Centre offers dance and performing arts classes in Merstham, Surrey, including industrial street dance, acro dance, toddler dance and ballet. The classes are at the Merstham Community Facility Trust Hall (Merstham HUB). Classes start from the ages of 18 months upwards. All classes are taught by extremely experienced teachers and industry performers, and being part of RSB Dance Schools, the children will be given opportunities to perform in local events and major dance / performing arts shows at the Harlequin Theatre, Redhill.

Classes are on SATURDAYS term time:
CLASS: SPARKLE BALLET
AGES: 2.5 - 4 years
TIME: 9.15 - 9.45am
A combination class to suit this age group through the medium of ballet, with mime. An extremely creative and imaginative class.
CLASS: PRE-PRIMARY BALLET
AGES: 4 (Reception) - 5
TIME: 9.45- 10.15am
Our beginner ballet class teaches basic technique combined with a sense of artistry and imagination, delivered in a fun and magical way.
CLASS: PRIMARY 1
TIME: 10.15 - 10.45am
As Pre-Primary, while further developing technique (springs in 1st position, spring points, gallops.... ) while incorporating the music section to develop artistry further. Pupils may take examinations towards the end of Pre-Primary if they wish (optional).
CLASS: MINI STREET
TIME: 10.45 - 11.15am
We recommend MINI STREET to provide the opportunity to dance as well. Mini Street teaches the basic steps and moves of street dance with fun upbeat dance routines relevant to this age group. This is a perfect compliment to ballet.
CLASS: PRIMARY 2 BALLET
AGES: 8 - 10
TIME: 11.15 - 11.45am
A developed stage of Primary level (outlined above) to prepare them for Level 1 and beyond.
CLASS: JNR STREET
AGES: 8 - 10
TIME: 11.45 - 12.15am
Junior Street covers more sophisticated movements than Mini, with more emphasis on isolation and body control, with more emphasis on performance.
CLASS: LEVEL 1 BALLET
AGES: 7 - 8
TIME: 12.15 - 12.45
Level 1 Ballet covers the essentials of the I.S.T.D. ballet syllabus, with an enhanced development in progressive ballet technique, with more understanding of artistry and musicality.

Which days are your dance classes at Merstham?
At present, we have classes on Saturday mornings in Merstham.
Where are the classes at Merstham held?
We teach dance at the brand new Merstham Hub in Portland Drive, Merstham RH1 3JA (next to the Co-Op).
What do they need to wear?
Apart from Ballet, there is no formal uniform for Street, Acro or Musical Theatre - just wear something comfortable, leggins, t-shirt, joggers, trainers.
Is there a waiting area for parents?
As a brand new facility, there is a cafe, toilets and library all within the building - perfect for weary parents.
Do you offer trial classes?
Yes - we currently offer 3 FREE TRIALS for all our classes. We feel this gives children to get settled and parents time to feel reassured the classes will be enjoyed.
Are your dance teachers experienced?
All our teachers are highly qualified with the I.S.T.D. and/or have commercial dance experience as a performer. This gives an extra element into the class where the children can only benefit from.
Are there opportunities for my child to perform?
As part of a much larger dance school with locations all over locally, we have many opportunities to perform, from watching weeks where parents are invited to watch, to full-scale dance shows (one of them being the largest in the area) at the Harlequin Theatre. When they become older, more and more performances are made available to them if they wish.
